I’M GOING TO BE MOTHER
I’M GOING TO BE A MOM
If you feel that the time has come, you should know that you are not alone. Being a single mother on a voluntary basis is a family choice that more and more women are making. Between 2 and 5% of the women who consult because they want to be mothers, do not have a male partner.
The options we offer you to become pregnant are exactly the same as for any woman who requires help from reproductive medicine. In this case, however, we will certainly have to use donor sperm from a Sperm Bank.
HOW DOES THE CLINIC SELECT THE MOST SUITABLE DONOR FOR ME?
The Embriogyn medical team will choose the most suitable sperm donor for you.
At Embriogyn we work with the world’s leading sperm banks in the selection and study of donors, in order to offer you maximum security. The law establishes that the donation is totally anonymous and that all donors must be of legal age and must pass rigorous selection tests and controls on their physical, immunological and genetic characteristics in order to be accepted as a donor.
WE COLLABORATE WITH THE ASSOCIATION OF SINGLE MOTHERS BY CHOICE. A MEETING POINT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES
A meeting point if you have the dream of forming a family. If you think you are the only person with this idea in mind. If you have made the decision but don’t know where to start. If you are already in the process and the road is getting long and hard. If you have already formed a single parent family. If you believe that raising a child alone doesn’t mean you feel alone. If you want to share, learn, talk, reflect or pose daily situations and challenges that offers you the day to day this association of single mothers by choice can be the tribe that accompanies you in this approach to life.
REPRODUCTIVE SPONSORSHIP, AN ANONYMOUS DIGITAL PLATFORM WHERE TO SHARE EMOTIONS, EXPRESS QUESTIONS AND LOOK FOR ADVICE FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN ON THE SAME ROAD AS YOU.
If at any time you have thought that you would like to talk to a woman who has arrived at the maternity with this formula and this contact could help you, at Embriogyn we give you the opportunity to contact one of them in a totally anonymous way. You will be able to seek advice, share feelings and concerns and above all, find answers.
WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY ABOUT BEING A MOTHER WITHOUT A MALE PARTNER?
The Law on Assisted Reproduction, in Article 6 of Law 35/1988, November 11, and endorsed by a subsequent ruling of the Constitutional Court on June 17, 1999 reports that it is not necessary for a woman to have a partner to undergo Assisted Reproduction Techniques. It is enough that she is of legal age and has a good psychophysical health.
What will be the first steps to follow to become a mother?
As in any other case, before starting an IVF treatment, a basic fertility study must be carried out to determine the best therapeutic option.
First of all, if all the tests are correct and the woman is fertile, the first therapeutic option is AI (Intrauterine Insemination using a donor sperm sample). Pregnancy rates per cycle with this technique are around 30%. In women who are over 38 years old or have fertility problems, the recommended option is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) using a donor sperm sample, a technique that achieves about 45% pregnancy rate per cycle.
The sperm samples used are from anonymous donors from a duly accredited Sperm Bank. The samples are kept frozen and meet the requirements established by the current law regarding cell and tissue banks. The law also regulates that the Bank must ensure that it offers sperm with the maximum similarity in terms of blood group and Rh and physical characteristics to the woman. The donation of semen is a free, anonymous and gratuitous act by a man of legal age whose psychophysical condition meets the requirements of a compulsory protocol for the study of donors.
Single-parent families seem to be models of the future, men who will adopt children and women who will have them alone, and this will increasingly become a reality. Being a mother, whether you have a partner or not, means love of life and no woman who wants it should give it up because she doesn’t have a partner.
